Description
In order to provide additional secure custodial accommodation for the male estate, the Department of Justice will be providing 512 beds by constructing four additional living units at Casuarina Prison.
One of the new units will be used to provide a male alcohol and other drug treatment facility.
To support the additional accommodation, upgrades will be undertaken to the utility services on site, as well as construction of new ancillary support buildings containing program and education rooms, interview and medical consultation rooms and a video link facility.
The project also includes construction of a new kitchen and expansion of key service delivery buildings including social and official visits, reception and outpatient medical centre.
