Description
With a $341 million commitment to the first stage of Concord Hospital’s redevelopment, the NSW Government will ensure the hospital is well equipped to manage community health.
Concord opened as a military hospital in 1941. It has a long history of working with veteran’s communities and this will continue with Stage 1’s delivery of Australia’s first National Centre for Veterans’ Healthcare. This Centre will provide a unique model of care that integrates a range of specialist services.
Overall Stage 1 will increase the hospital’s inpatient/outpatient capacity and deliver:
- the Rusty Priest Centre for Rehabilitation and Aged Care with ambulatory clinics, assessment and therapy areas, rehab gyms and psychogeriatric medicine;
- a comprehensive cancer centre with extra capacity for day and inpatient oncology services;
- enhanced and integrated clinical research;
- improved access and dedicated patient drop-off zones;
- a new atrium with retail opportunities; and
- a new loading dock.
Delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with Sydney Local Health District, Stage 1 is now underway.
